The short version. Brooklyn Integrative Psychological Services sees clients in person at our Union Square office in Manhattan, a few minutes’ walk from the 14th Street–Union Square station. Eleven clinicians work from this office, offering individual therapy for adults and older teens, couples and relationship therapy, sex therapy, and gender-affirming care. The work is integrative and depth-oriented — we look at the pattern underneath, not only the symptom on top. Some clinicians are in network with Aetna and BCBS; superbills are provided for out-of-network plans, and a sliding scale is available. Telehealth across New York State is available with the same clinicians when getting to the office isn’t practical.
Who this office tends to suit.
People who work or study between the Village and Midtown, and who would rather not spend their session time commuting. Union Square is the easiest room in the city to reach from almost anywhere — seven subway lines, the PATH, and the Q or L from Brooklyn.
It is also our busiest office for couples and sex therapy, and for clients in their twenties and thirties working through anxiety, identity, family patterns and the shape of adult life.
By train. The 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R and W all stop at 14th Street–Union Square, and the F and M are two blocks west at 14th Street–Sixth Avenue. PATH riders come up at Ninth Street.
On the address. We confirm the exact address and suite when you book, along with door and buzzer instructions. Our clinicians see clients by appointment only, and we keep the office details between us and the people coming in.
11 clinicians, one clinical community.
Everyone here is supervised inside the practice, which means your work sits inside a practice of more than thirty clinicians rather than in one person’s head alone. Availability changes week to week — our intake coordinator will tell you who actually has room.

Integrative and relational at the core, drawing on psychodynamic work, AEDP, DBT and EMDR — chosen for what you’re bringing rather than applied from a template.
Anxiety & depression
The kind that has become the weather rather than the event — where the goal is understanding the pattern, not only quieting it.
Couples & sex therapy
Valarie Merced, LMHC, a sexologist and clinical supervisor, runs couples and sex therapy from this office, including intensives.
Trauma & PTSD
Paced, relational trauma work for clients carrying histories they haven’t been able to put down.
ADHD & executive function
Late diagnosis, work and study systems, and the shame that often arrives with both.
Gender-affirming care
Affirming therapy and letters, from clinicians who do this work regularly rather than occasionally.
Twenties & thirties
Identity, family dynamics, career, and the long business of becoming yourself — including older teens and college students.
How payment works.
In-network plans. Some BIPS clinicians are in network with Aetna and BCBS. We confirm your specific plan before you register, so there are no surprises in week three.
Out of network. We provide detailed superbills, which most PPO plans reimburse at a meaningful percentage of the fee. Our coordinator can check your benefits before your first session.
Sliding scale. A limited number of reduced-fee places are held at each office. Ask — we would rather have the conversation than lose you to a number.
Three rooms, one practice.
We also see clients in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and Midtown West, and by telehealth anywhere in New York State — plus Massachusetts and Oregon with clinicians licensed there.
If a clinician you want works from a different office, say so. Several of our clinicians split their week between locations, and most can offer telehealth in the weeks when getting across town isn’t realistic.
Union Square FAQ
Where exactly is the office?
In Union Square, a few minutes from the trains listed above. We confirm the exact address and suite when you book. It isn’t a drop-in office — everyone who comes in has an appointment.
Do you have evening appointments?
Some clinicians at this office hold evening hours, and they fill first. Tell our intake coordinator what times actually work for you and we’ll match you to someone whose schedule fits rather than putting you on a list.
Can I start in person and switch to video?
Yes, and most people do at some point. Every clinician here is licensed in New York and can see you by secure video in the weeks when coming in isn’t realistic.
How do you decide who I see?
Our intake coordinator is a trained therapist, which is why the matching works. She asks what you’re bringing, what has and hasn’t helped before, and what your schedule actually allows, then matches you to a clinician with room.
Do you see teenagers?
Yes — several clinicians here work with older teens and college students. Tell us their age when you reach out and we’ll match accordingly.
How do I get started?
Use the contact form. You’ll get a free 15-minute consultation first — no cost, no commitment — so you can hear how we work before you decide anything.
Ready to begin?
Reach out to our intake coordinator. We’ll confirm your insurance, talk through what you’re looking for, and match you with a clinician at Union Square who has room.
