What we offer
Ways to work with us
Every service below is delivered by licensed clinicians in our own practice — not a referral network. If you're not sure which fits, our intake coordinator will help you decide.
Individual therapy for adults
Weekly depth-oriented therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, disordered eating, grief, and the patterns that keep repeating.
Couples & relationship therapy
EFT-informed work on the cycle underneath the argument — communication, distance, intimacy, trust, and repair. All relationship structures welcome.
Teens & young adults
For adolescents and young adults navigating identity, school and work pressure, family conflict, and the transition into adulthood.
Gender Care Program
Affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse clients: ongoing therapy, gender dysphoria evaluations, and letters of medical necessity, informed by WPATH 8. We are guides, not gatekeepers.
Perinatal & postnatal support
Care through pregnancy, birth, and after — mood changes, birth trauma and loss, and the shift a new baby creates between partners.
Couples therapy intensives
Half-day, full-day, or multi-day formats for couples who need concentrated progress rather than weekly sessions.
Whole-Person Care Coordination
A 60-day program with a real human coordinator — not an app — working alongside your therapist. They assemble your full health team, make the referral calls, and track your care plan so nothing falls through the cracks. Built for people who are functioning but overwhelmed and want to get ahead of their health before it escalates.
Why clients choose BIPS
What makes this practice different
We treat the pattern, not just the symptom
Integrative psychodynamic therapy asks why something keeps happening — not only how to manage it this week. Our clinicians also draw on CBT, DBT, EMDR, AEDP, IFS, EFT, and somatic work when that's what the moment calls for.
You're matched by a person, carefully
An intake coordinator reads your situation and pairs you with a therapist whose training and availability actually fit — then you have a free 15-minute call before committing to anything.
Affirming care is the baseline, not a specialty
LGBTQIA+, trans and gender-diverse, ethically non-monogamous, kink-aware, neurodivergent, intercultural. You shouldn't spend your session explaining your life to your therapist.
Every clinician is supervised and supported
Our therapists work under licensed clinical psychologists and meet regularly for case consultation. The quality of care you get is held by a team, not one person working alone.
Built for long-term relationships
We specialize in close, multi-year therapeutic work — with creative communities, intersecting minority identities, and people whose lives don't fit a standard template.

Common questions
Before you reach out
Do you take insurance?
Yes — we accept a number of plans and also work out of network. Check whether your plan has a deductible or whether it's waived for mental health, then send us your information and we'll confirm your exact fee. Details are on our fees and insurance page.
Is there a sliding scale?
Yes. We have a financial hardship application for a steep sliding scale — it asks for income verification, and it also asks about your situation and what you need right now. If you're paying out of pocket with no insurance involved, we hold a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots. Ask before assuming care is out of reach.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We provide telehealth to clients located in New York, Massachusetts, and Oregon, and in-person sessions in Greenpoint, Union Square, and Midtown West.
How long is a session, and how often?
Most sessions are 45–60 minutes, weekly. Some clients meet more than once a week; couples intensives run for half a day or longer.
How do you pick my therapist?
A person reads your intake, not an algorithm. We consider what you're bringing, your identities and communities, your schedule, and each clinician's training — then you meet them on a free 15-minute call before deciding.
Do I have to be a BIPS therapy client to use Whole-Person Care Coordination?
No. The coordinator works alongside whoever your therapist is. Reach out and our intake team will tell you whether it's a fit for where you are right now.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Clinical information is protected under HIPAA. There are limited legal exceptions — imminent risk of harm and mandatory child-abuse reporting — which your therapist reviews with you in the first session. More in our FAQs.
You don't have to be in crisis to start.
Tell us a little about what's going on. No pressure, no commitment.
