BIPS Gender Care Program

Gender Care Program

Care for who you are — now, and as you evolve.

Specialized, affirming mental health care for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse clients. Informed, rigorous, and designed around you — in New York and via telehealth.

Our approach

Gender care is healthcare.

We don't work as gatekeepers. Our role is to be informed guides — clinicians who take your self-knowledge seriously, who follow the evidence, and who treat the process of discovering, naming, or transitioning as part of a whole life, not a checkbox exercise.

Every member of our Gender Care team has committed to specialized training and ongoing consultation. We practice according to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care, 8th Edition — the most current, consensus-based clinical guidance for gender-affirming mental health work.

I.
We get it

We understand the weight of the decisions you're navigating — medical, social, relational, logistical. You don't have to explain gender 101 to your therapist. We come in already listening.

II.
We got it

We're trained in gender-affirming clinical care, including diagnosis, psychotherapy, and the preparation of letters of medical necessity for clients pursuing hormone therapy or surgical interventions.

III.
You can have it

Ongoing therapy, single-session evaluations, concierge coordination with your outside medical providers — we'll meet you where you are and help you get where you're going.

Services offered

Care that fits your life.

Not everyone needs the same thing. Some clients want long-term therapy where gender is one of many threads. Others need a single session to obtain a letter for a specific medical intervention. We offer both — and everything in between.

Weekly · In-network friendly
Ongoing gender-affirming psychotherapy

45 or 60-minute weekly sessions with a clinician trained in gender-affirming care. In-network benefits may apply depending on insurance; out-of-network superbills provided.

Single session · 60 minutes
Diagnostic evaluation & letters of medical necessity

One 60-minute evaluation session resulting in a gender dysphoria assessment and, where clinically indicated, a letter of medical necessity for hormone therapy or gender-affirming surgical procedures.

Concierge
Coordination & coaching

Navigating insurance, surgeons, endocrinology, legal name changes, and family conversations can be a full-time job. Our Gender Care Coordinator helps you make sense of the landscape and advocates alongside you.

GC
Gender Care Coordinator

A dedicated point of contact for care coordination — scheduling, referrals, paperwork, surgical timelines, and everything in between. Reach out via our intake team and ask to be connected.

Our goal is to provide a new standard for the highest quality of mental health care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals, preserving the highest ethical and scientific standards.

For clinicians & referring providers

We accept referrals.

Primary care clinicians, endocrinologists, surgeons, and community clinicians — if you have a client who would benefit from gender-affirming psychotherapy, diagnostic evaluation, or a letter of medical necessity, we can help. Send them to our intake team and our Gender Care Coordinator will triage and reach out.

We also welcome case consultation with clinicians who are expanding their own gender-affirming practice — contact us through the supervision and consultation channel.

Ready to reach out?

Tell our intake coordinator a little about what you're looking for. We'll match you with a clinician whose training, approach, and availability fit what you need.
