matters handled in-house
The short version. Brooklyn Integrative Psychological Services is a group psychotherapy practice offering integrative psychodynamic therapy for adults, couples, teens and gender-diverse clients. Offices are in Greenpoint Brooklyn, Union Square and Midtown West, with telehealth across New York, Massachusetts and Oregon. Services include individual therapy, couples and relationship therapy, therapy for teens and young adults, the Gender Care Program, perinatal and postnatal support, couples therapy intensives, and Whole-Person Care Coordination. The practice is in network with Aetna and Northwell Direct in New York, handles out-of-network billing for other plans, and holds a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots. An intake coordinator matches every client to a clinician by hand, followed by a free 15-minute consultation call before anyone commits.
Ways to work with us
Every service is delivered by licensed clinicians in our own practice, not a referral network. Not sure which fits? Our intake coordinator will help.
Individual therapy for adults
Weekly depth-oriented therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, disordered eating, grief, and the patterns that keep repeating.
Couples & relationship therapy
EFT-informed work on the cycle underneath the argument — communication, distance, intimacy, trust and repair. All relationship structures welcome.
Teens & young adults
For adolescents and young adults navigating identity, school and work pressure, family conflict, and the transition into adulthood.
Gender Care Program
Affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse clients: ongoing therapy, gender dysphoria evaluations, and letters of medical necessity, informed by WPATH 8. Guides, not gatekeepers.
Perinatal & postnatal support
Care through pregnancy, birth and after — mood changes, birth trauma and loss, and the shift a new baby creates between partners.
Couples therapy intensives
Half-day, full-day or multi-day formats for couples who need concentrated progress rather than weekly sessions.
Children’s therapy group, ages 6–8
A small in-person group in Greenpoint where children practice naming feelings, joining in, and repairing after a fight — through play, not sitting and talking.
Whole-Person Care Coordination
A 60-day program with a real human coordinator, not an app, working alongside your therapist — assembling your health team, making the referral calls, tracking your care plan.
What makes this practice different
We treat the pattern, not just the symptom
Integrative psychodynamic therapy asks why something keeps happening, not just how to manage it this week. Clinicians also draw on CBT, DBT, EMDR, AEDP, IFS, EFT and somatic work.
You are matched by a person, carefully
An intake coordinator reads your situation and pairs you with a therapist whose training and availability fit. Then a free 15-minute call before you commit.
Affirming care is the baseline, not a specialty
LGBTQIA+, trans and gender-diverse, ethically non-monogamous, kink-aware, neurodivergent, intercultural. You should not spend your session explaining your life.
Every clinician is supervised and supported
Our therapists work under licensed clinical psychologists and meet regularly for case consultation. Your care is held by a team, not one person alone.
Built for long-term relationships
We specialize in close, multi-year work — with creative communities, intersecting minority identities, and people whose lives do not fit a standard template.
Three offices and telehealth in three states
See someone in Greenpoint, Union Square or Midtown West — or work virtually from anywhere in New York, Massachusetts or Oregon.
Where we meet
Three offices across Brooklyn and Manhattan — old buildings, high ceilings, real windows. Nothing feels like a clinic.

How to become a client
Send us a note
Send the short form on our contact page with your insurance and what is going on. We reply within 24–48 business hours.
We confirm your fee and your match
We verify your benefits, confirm your fee, and pair you with a therapist. We cannot estimate either without your information.
Free 15-minute consultation
Talk to your matched therapist before you commit. If it is not the right fit, we match you again.
Begin
Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes, weekly. You get a secure client portal for paperwork and payments.
Before you reach out
Do you take insurance?
Yes. We are in network with Aetna and Northwell Direct in New York, and handle out-of-network billing for other plans. Send us your information and we will confirm your exact fee. Details on our fees and insurance page.
Is there a sliding scale?
Yes. Our financial hardship application asks for income verification and about your situation. If you are paying out of pocket, we hold a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots. Ask before assuming care is out of reach.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We provide telehealth to clients located in New York, Massachusetts and Oregon, and in-person sessions in Greenpoint, Union Square and Midtown West.
How long is a session, and how often?
Most sessions are 45–60 minutes, weekly. Some clients meet twice a week; couples intensives run half a day or longer.
How do you pick my therapist?
A person reads your intake, not an algorithm. We weigh what you are bringing, your identities and communities, your schedule, and each clinician's training. Then a free 15-minute call.
Do I have to be a BIPS therapy client to use Whole-Person Care Coordination?
No. The coordinator works alongside whoever your therapist is. Reach out and our intake team will tell you whether it is a fit.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Clinical information is protected under HIPAA. There are limited legal exceptions — imminent risk of harm and mandatory child-abuse reporting — which your therapist reviews with you in the first session. More in our FAQs.
You do not have to be in crisis to start.
Tell us what is going on. No pressure, no commitment.
