The short version. Brooklyn Integrative Psychological Services provides clinical supervision toward LCSW and LMHC licensure in New York, for LMSWs, MHC-LPs, limited permit holders, and MSW and MHC interns. Supervisors are licensed clinical psychologists, LCSWs and LMHCs, and SIFI-certified supervisors are available for MSW interns. Supervisees receive about eight hours a month, weekly individual plus group, with $1,500 a year for continuing education. BIPS also offers case consultation, specialty consultation, practice building, practice management and group practice consultation to independently licensed clinicians outside the practice. Offices are in Greenpoint, Union Square and Midtown West, with telehealth across New York.
Good supervision shapes good therapy.
We take the training of early-career clinicians as a clinical responsibility, not a licensing requirement to discharge. The therapists we supervise go on to be better clinicians — which matters to them, and to every client they'll see for the rest of their careers.
Our supervisors are licensed clinical psychologists, LCSWs and LMHCs who receive their own ongoing training and case consultation. They bring a psychodynamic foundation, a social justice orientation and cultural humility into the room, and they expect to learn from you as much as you learn from them.
Supervision here isn't about accumulating hours. It's about developing a clinical identity — learning to think psychodynamically, sit with uncertainty, hold complex cases, and grow into the therapist your clients actually need.
And that work doesn't finish at licensure. Seasoned clinicians come to us for the opposite reason: not to be developed, but to be relieved — of billing, credentialing, intake, scheduling, and the administrative weight that accumulates around a practice until there is no room left to think. Both are the same commitment, at different stages of a career.
