Samantha Linet, LMSW

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. You want someone who not only understands your struggles but creates a space where you feel safe, seen, and even a little lighter. If you’re hoping for someone with a magic wand who can fix everything in one session—well, I’m still searching for one too. But what I do bring to the room is a grounded, compassionate, and calming presence. My style is relaxed and conversational, and I aim to create a space that feels more like a seaside retreat than a clinical setting—fitting, as I work from a unique oceanfront office in New York City.

My approach blends deep emotional work with practical tools. I draw primarily from relational and emotion-focused models that encourage clients to “tune in and glance back”—exploring the past with compassion to understand current patterns, while also using mind-body techniques to foster greater self-awareness. I am a certified Level 1 AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) therapist and currently completing certification with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Institute. These models help clients connect with neglected or shamed parts of themselves, not to silence them, but to finally listen—and heal.

That said, I don’t believe insight alone is the endgame. It’s a powerful start—but lasting change comes through action. That’s why I integrate evidence-based, action-oriented tools from modalities like CBT, DBT, ACT, and Behavioral Activation. Together, we’ll identify what needs shifting and build the skills to do so meaningfully, without band-aid solutions or quick fixes. My goal is not temporary relief—it’s sustainable, long-term transformation.

With over a decade of clinical experience, I specialize in supporting women in their 20s to 40s, particularly those who identify as people-pleasers—empathetic, intuitive individuals who often find themselves prioritizing others at the cost of their own well-being. These "emotional sponges" are incredibly tuned in to the world around them, but can become overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, and burnout. My integrative approach helps them develop stronger boundaries, reconnect with their needs, and find renewed balance and purpose.

I also bring specialized training in:

Child development and trauma-informed care (Hunter College & National Child Trauma Workforce Institute)

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (Postpartum Support International)

Alternative relationship and sexuality dynamics, including ethical non-monogamy, sex work, and kink-affirming practices

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, low self-worth, life transitions, or simply seeking a deeper connection with yourself, I'm here to walk beside you—not as the expert on your life, but as a collaborator in your healing journey.
