Integrative Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in Brooklyn & Manhattan (In-Person + Telehealth)

At Brooklyn Integrative Psychological Services (BIPS), we help you move from surviving to thriving. Our therapists specialize in integrative psychodynamic psychotherapy — a relational, depth-focused approach that uncovers and transforms the hidden patterns driving anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and self-doubt. By exploring how attachment history, emotional regulation, identity development, and unconscious relational templates shape your present experience, we help you gain insight, build resilience, and create lasting change. When helpful, we weave in evidence-informed techniques to stabilize symptoms, improve day-to-day functioning, and accelerate progress.

We also offer specialized modalities tailored to specific needs, including EMDR for trauma resolution, AEDP for healing through connection, Internal Family Systems (IFS) for inner harmony, and sex-positive couples therapy. All our psychotherapy is all-affirming and guided by clinical fit, your goals, and each therapist’s specialized training and experience.

Sessions are available in person in New York (Brooklyn and Manhattan) and via telehealth across New York State. We also provide telehealth appointments for clients in Massachusetts and Oregon. Whatever your starting point, BIPS offers compassionate expertise and practical support to help you build a more integrated, fulfilling life.

Individual Therapy for Adults (Integrative Psychodynamic + Specialty Modalities)

Adult individual therapy at BIPS is organized around a collaborative formulation that links current concerns to core affective themes, defensive strategies, and enduring self-and-other representations. Treatment emphasizes strengthening reflective functioning/mentalization, increasing affect tolerance, and identifying repetitive interpersonal patterns—often including how these dynamics emerge within the therapeutic relationship.

Depending on your needs and clinician availability, therapy may integrate:

  • EMDR for trauma-related symptoms and distressing memories

  • IFS to work with “parts” and internal conflict with compassion and clarity

  • AEDP to support corrective emotional experiences and deeper affective processing

  • Skills-based interventions as clinically indicated to support emotion regulation and daily functioning

We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma and grief, relationship and attachment concerns, self-esteem and perfectionism, identity exploration, and neurodivergence (ADHD/autistic traits), including executive functioning and emotional regulation.

Therapy for Children & Adolescents (Developmentally Attuned, Relationship-Based)

Child and adolescent therapy is developmentally informed and attachment-oriented, recognizing that distress may present through mood shifts, behavior changes, somatic symptoms, academic difficulties, or relational stress. We support young people in building emotional awareness, self-regulation, and resilience, and—with appropriate consent—incorporate caregiver collaboration to strengthen co-regulation and align supports across home and school environments.

Available: In-person in Brooklyn & Manhattan + telehealth across NY, MA, and OR.

Couples & Relationship Therapy (EFT-Informed, Psychodynamic, and Sex-Positive)

Couples therapy at BIPS is integrative and attachment-based. Many clinicians draw from EFT-informed couples therapy while also applying a psychodynamic lens to repetitive cycles, implicit relational expectations, and emotional vulnerabilities that shape conflict and disconnection. The goal is to shift the couple’s negative cycle, strengthen emotional safety, and support repair and reconnection.

We also offer sex-positive therapy, supporting individuals and partners in navigating desire discrepancy, intimacy concerns, communication about sex, shame, identity, and relationship agreements in a nonjudgmental, affirming way.

Available: In-person in Brooklyn & Manhattan + telehealth across NY, MA and OR.

BIPS Gender Care Program (Affirming and WPATH-Informed)

Our Gender Care Program provides specialized, affirming services for transgender and gender-diverse clients, informed by contemporary standards of care and attentive to minority stress, identity development, relational safety, and systemic barriers. We prioritize non-pathologizing assessment, informed consent, and collaborative care planning.

Services include ongoing psychotherapy, brief evaluations when indicated, letters of medical necessity for gender-affirming medical interventions when appropriate, and care coordination with outside medical providers (with releases), supported by a dedicated Client Care Coordinator.

Available: In-person in Brooklyn & Manhattan + telehealth across NY, MA and OR.

Clinical Supervision & Practice-Building Consultation

We offer supervision for LMSWs, MHCs, and other pre-licensed clinicians with licensed clinical psychologists and social workers, and practice-building consultation for clinicians developing sustainable wellness practices.
