Fees &
Insurance

We know money stuff is stressful — especially when you're already stressed. So here it is, straight: clear pricing, real humans handling your insurance, and zero pressure to commit before you're ready.

Individual psychotherapy

Session fees

We don't believe cost should be the thing that keeps you from good therapy. Multiple pricing tiers exist so you can find a fit that works — for your wallet and your vibe. Every clinician at every tier is supervised, specialty-trained, and matched to what you're actually dealing with.

Advanced clinical interns
Pre-licensed Therapists
$50–75

Graduate-level therapists-in-training completing supervised hours under SIFI-certified LCSW and LMHC supervisors at BIPS. They get more supervision than almost anyone in NYC private practice — and they bring fresh energy, deep curiosity, and genuinely invested care. Available September through May.

September – May
Licensed & pre-licensed clinicians
Master's-Level Therapists
$100–225

Licensed and pre-licensed clinicians with real specialty training, certifications, and genuine depth in their areas of focus. These are not generalists — they've gone deep, and it shows. Actively mentored and supported in developing a clinical identity that's truly their own.

Highly experienced clinicians
Senior Staff Psychotherapists
$225–400

The most experienced clinicians on our team — advanced certifications, years of post-graduate training, and the kind of deep specialization that comes from actually doing this work for a long time. Includes our licensed clinical psychologists and doctoral-level staff.

Community commitment
Pay What You Can
Seriously.
You decide.

We hold a limited number of spots for clients who genuinely cannot afford our standard rates — and we mean genuinely: we're talking $10, $20, whatever you can actually do right now. No income verification, no shame, no hoops. Just reach out and we'll figure it out together.

For context: most NYC private practices don't go below $80. We do.

Limited availability
Couples & relationship therapy

Couples session fees

Whether you're in crisis, growing pains, or just want to go deeper — our couples therapists are EFT-trained, sex-therapy-informed, and have genuinely seen it all. All relationship structures welcome, no judgment, full stop.

$130–350
Weekly Couples Therapy

60–90 minute sessions with a clinician who actually knows relationships — not just conflict resolution scripts. We work with communication, intimacy, trust repair, cultural differences, trauma, and everything in between. Fee varies by clinician level and specialization.

$2,000–2,200
Couples Therapy Intensives

Sometimes weekly sessions aren't enough, or you just don't have that kind of time. Intensives are focused, immersive, and designed to get you somewhere real — fast. Three formats available, offered by our most senior clinicians.

Diagnostic services

Psychological evaluation

Single-Session Diagnostic Assessment

  • 60–90 minute diagnostic interview
  • Self- and direct-report assessment questionnaires (completed ahead of time)
  • Written diagnostic impressions and recommendations
  • Referrals for medication management, academic & workplace accommodations, and immigration evaluations

Insurance & billing

Using your insurance

Insurance is confusing and we know it. Once you register, our team does the legwork — verifying your benefits, confirming your actual cost, and handling claims on your behalf. You focus on finding the right therapist. We'll handle the paperwork.

📍

Your state determines your in-network options. Please read the section that applies to you. Plans accepted in Massachusetts and Oregon are not available to New York clients.

New York only
New York clients
In-network plans

Some BIPS clinicians are in-network with the following plans in New York. Reach out and we'll tell you exactly who accepts yours — no guessing, no runaround.

Aetna Northwell Direct

All other plans are out-of-network — but that doesn't mean you're on your own. We handle claim submission and provide superbills so you can get as much back as your plan allows.

⚠️ Note: BCBS and other plans listed under Massachusetts & Oregon are not available in New York.
Telehealth only
Massachusetts & Oregon clients
In-network telehealth plans

Some BIPS clinicians accept the following plans for telehealth in Massachusetts and Oregon. Availability varies — reach out and we'll confirm what works for you.

Aetna BCBS Select regional plans

All other plans are out-of-network — same deal: we handle the submission and provide superbills to maximize your reimbursement.

Important: Starting January 1, 2026, most non-commercial insurance plans reset their deductibles. This means your deductible must be met before coinsurance applies. We are not in-network with Medicaid or Community Plans — these clients may be eligible for low-fee private pay arrangements. Insurance coverage and telehealth policies continue to evolve; final determinations are made by your provider.

Legal notice

Good Faith Estimate
No Surprises Act

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133, effective January 1, 2022), health care providers are required to give clients who are uninsured or not using insurance an estimate of expected costs.

Your rights under this law

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services — including related costs such as medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

The estimate is based on information known at the time it was created and does not include unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. If you schedule at least 3 business days in advance, you must receive your estimate no later than 1 business day after scheduling.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. For questions, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Really Real Client Reviews

I had the pleasure of consulting with Dr. Mercado during a professional call, and her expertise was truly invaluable. Her depth of knowledge, clear communication, and willingness to collaborate made a significant impact. She provided insightful recommendations and demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in her field. A fantastic resource and an exceptional peer—highly recommend!

I have been seeing Shoshanna for two years now for EMDR. She is awesome! She has really helped me work through some past trauma and helped me establish myself as my own internal guide. I highly recommend her!

i’m totally confused why this place only has 3 ratings. this is the best you can possibly get. i’m leaving this review in case anyone else finds this place through google maps. GO HERE. they take my insurance which has never happened in my life. i feel like i’m somehow cheating by getting the best therapist(s) i’ve ever had for the cheapest price i’ve ever paid. to say that colleen changed my life is an understatement. i can’t even describe the profound and meaningful impact she’s had. she’s helped me become a better person in so many ways. i will forever and ever be grateful for her overwhelming amounts of help, understanding, listening, guidance, patience, kindness, and so so much more. i also worked with francesca for couples therapy for a few months. she was great, very warm and understanding. our first session with her i immediately realized how helpful she had been in getting us to start communicating. email them, they respond quickly. literally everything about Brooklyn Integrated is great. i keep telling all my friends—please try this place!!
