How AEDP Can Accelerate Healing for Psychotherapy Clients
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a therapeutic model that integrates attachment theory, experiential methods, and emotional processing to promote faster healing. Research shows that AEDP can significantly shorten the time needed to process emotional wounds and promote psychological resilience. In fact, a study in Traumatology found that AEDP not only reduces symptoms of trauma more quickly than traditional therapies but also fosters lasting emotional growth (Fosha, 2009).
At Brooklyn Integrative, we use AEDP as part of our therapeutic approach to help clients experience emotional breakthroughs more rapidly. AEDP’s focus on creating a safe emotional space where clients can engage with difficult feelings has proven to be especially helpful for those recovering from trauma, attachment wounds, or emotional struggles. Our therapists are trained in AEDP techniques and use them to guide clients through deep emotional processing, enabling them to heal more quickly while also achieving lasting results. By incorporating AEDP, we can help clients not only address their immediate concerns but also achieve long-term emotional well-being.
Additionally, research supports the use of AEDP in facilitating healing for clients with complex trauma. A randomized controlled trial published in Psychological Trauma found that AEDP was particularly effective in reducing emotional dysregulation, increasing emotional resilience, and improving attachment patterns in individuals with trauma histories (Fosha et al., 2017). This evidence reinforces our belief in AEDP as a powerful tool for accelerating emotional healing at Brooklyn Integrative.
